FOR

ForPipe is a device for detecting and searching pipelines and cables.
The ForPipe system consists of a tracer and a generator.
- The tracer is designed to determine the spatial position of underwater pipelines and cables during measurements performed from a watercraft.
- The generator is required to excite a current of a certain frequency in the pipeline and thus form an electro-magnetic field.

A necessary component of the instrument complex for determining the position of pipelines (cables) is a positioning system, which is used to determine the coordinates of the trace detector sensor during measurements. It is recommended to use ForPipe as a part of the instrument complex for simultaneous electromagnetic and bathymetric survey of water areas of underwater crossings. The distinctive feature of this instrument complex, in which ForPipe operates, is that the operation of all instruments is controlled on one PC by one operator.
The principle of operation of the trace detector is based on the measurement of two components of the electromagnetic field generated by currents flowing through the surveyed pipelines. Either currents of the pipeline electrochemical protection system (ECP) or currents excited in the pipe using a generator are used for measurements. Measurements are made in a horizontal plane parallel to the water surface. In the electromagnetic field sensors, located mutually perpendicularly, an EMF proportional to the value of the electromagnetic field strength is generated. The received signals are amplified, converted and fed into a PC for registration, recording and subsequent processing.
